You know, there are days like this when I wish I could take back time and not volunteer to be a mod -- or get a personality transfer and be the mean mod -- and tell people what I really think.

For instance: Hey you, if you really love that story, I don't think it'd be such a hardship to write a paragraph saying why you like it. I think it's a joy to fangirl over things I love, and to have an excuse to do so.

And while I'm at it, here's that icon that pissed someone off elsewhere because it was "cruelty to animals."

Being the mean mod is simultaneously incredibly satisfying and very stressful--what if the world doesn't like me anymore? But there's really only so far you can bend over backwards. When you find yourself wincing at receiving someone's email, you know they've crossed the line over into the land of No More Chances.

There are just times when you wish you could let loose with a "what the fuck are you talking about, you idiot?" comment. Or a "someone has a different opinion than you -- so live with it." I actually chose to start with that one to get things off to a fast start, as it were, and give them an idea of what the process was about. (It's not about OMG I LOVE THAT STORY!!! and a plain and simple rec list.) I'm pretty sure it'll still get voted in since she's got a lot of fans who will give it an automatic pass, but every time I see a complaint that the HOF is only about my favorite fics, I'd love to point at this one and say: Nope.

I know, I have problems remembering to check this too. But yeah, someone bitched and after I spent several hours really pissed off, I agreed to switch it up just to keep the peace. (And now I've had to switch my twitter status to private because someone from that board came over and berated me for "mocking" someone there ... in a private conversation elsewhere. I simply don't have the time or energy to deal with anymore fandom wackos.
