Thanks. I liked the fence/DMZ image also because it showed the difference in attitudes between Blythe and John -- John seeing a fence as marking the end of the world, Blythe seeing it as merely a border between what we already know and what's new. House, to me, is as you say in that no man's land unable to accept either of his parents' points of view and trapped by his own failure to either fix what was broken in the first place, or move on to something different. (I just hope he's moving toward moving on for his own sake.)
