It often takes me a while to comment when I've read a complex piece of writing -- and there's so much going on in this one. I'm actually re-reading this and catching things I missed, lovely details like the pools of light on the ceiling as House stares upward.
I'm curious now about the thing House mentioned, poison and Robert Johnson.
Such a small and lovely turning point at the end, when he tells Wilson to stay and Wilson (of course) does. And it's so telling that House has kept up with what's happened to his former band members, the ones he claimed not to have cared about.
One more little word slipped into the ether at the very end, here: leaving only lamp burning.
That whole elevator/Disney World conversation was gold, btw, absolutely in character and so strangely full of hope.
